As the subject and producer of this documentary, I share a heartfelt story about my journey through grief after the loss of my mother to cancer in 2006. Throughout the film, I provide intimate interviews with my aunts, who have been motherly figures to me throughout my life. Titled "In My Heart," the film reflects on how my mother's memory and influence remains with me even after her passing. The documentary ends with a touching moment where I read a letter addressed to my late mother, while home videos of us play in the background.
My aim for this documentary is to inspire people to find ways to get through tough times and to appreciate the love and support of those around them.
This documentary was nominated for Best Documentary at Toronto Metropolitan University's 43rd Annual TARA Awards in 2021.
